Lib Dems call for more police to tackle local crime

Lib Dem MP Chris Huhne has called for more police to be recruited, as the police warn that the credit crunch is fuelling an increase in burglaries.

Chris Caswill supports this call, and the proposal that the extra police be funded by scrapping the Government’s ludicrously expensive ID card scheme.  “We can see the need for this right here in Chippenham”, says Chris, “where our Neighbourhood Police Teams need to be at least doubled in strength.  This is no time to talk about squeezing police budgets.”
